Smoker’s Bow Chair This form of Windsor chair was a very common piece of British furniture and was for many years the standard office chair. Although the design originated in America in the early part of the 19th century it was not unknown for these chairs to be exported to the USA. There were a number of variations, one of which was the captain’s chair, a name often given to the smoker’s bow. The chair made by us features an elm seat (as in all Windsor chairs) and legs, spindles, stretchers, arms and crest rail in yew. It is in this form that real full size examples command a high price as antiques. Not Available
Chair Table Another piece from the days of sparsely furnished houses when items of furniture often served more than one purpose. Sometimes called a monks bench, this piece can be used as a chair or table depending upon whether the top is in a horizontal or vertical position. Our pieces are made in oak and are available with a circular or rectangular top.
